Meet Simpcw Resources Group

As the business and industrial arm of the Simpcw First Nation, Simpcw Resources Group (SRG) works to empower their communities and foster economic growth across the Simpcw Territory. Using sustainable and environmentally-responsible methods to develop a variety of natural resources, they honour the culture of the Simpcw FN while fostering respect and self-sufficiency for its people.

The Challenge

To lay the groundwork for future growth, SRG needed to solidify their brand architecture while developing a brand foundation, voice, and identity that would position them as an international industry leader and partner—while broadcasting their values on the world stage. This also presented an opportunity to better communicate the projects, services, and job opportunities available to their community through their website.

Our Approach

Coming from outside of the Simpcw First Nation, the Major Tom team had to work closely with SRG’s stakeholders to develop a resonant, culturally-respectful approach for their new brand and messaging. Hosting multiple workshops and alignment sessions, we had deep discussions to better understand how Simpcw Resources Group could address and advocate for the needs of the Simpcw people—while honoring their existing relationships and putting their world-class expertise in the spotlight.

 

After identifying the brand’s key priorities, we worked together to develop resonant messaging for prospective team members, partners, and the Simpcw community at large. To capitalize on the goodwill SRG had already built in their community, the brand’s updated visual identity incorporated familiar elements and colors with a refined approach to support future growth. Regular check-ins helped keep the focus on SRG’s core mission: to empower generations of the Simpcw First Nation.
